On a Saturday in late may, you never really know what kind of weather you are going to get in Alberta. Catherine and Darcy lucked out with a perfect day for their Calgary spring wedding. Catherine and I actually grew up together as our parents were friends and we were involved in many of the same church groups as kids. I always love being able to reconnect with people later in life and being invited to intimate moments on such an important day in their lives.
I think the best way to describe Cathy & Darcy’s wedding is Simple and Beautiful. As a bride, I think Catherine showed that you can have a simple wedding day that is incredibly beautiful and a complete reflection of you as a couple. In the planning stages, Catherine and Darcy were so easy going and I could tell the most important part of their wedding day was going to be enjoying moments with each other and everyone around them.
Their day started with a beautiful Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Albert the Great Parish in south Calgary. I always love ceremonies at this church because it’s a bright and joyful space… and this is actually where we were married back in 2008.
One of my favourite details from their wedding day was a fun Tiki themed bar at their reception. They had coconuts for their bridal party to drink from and all the guests were offered signature drinks in either a watermelon or pineapple.
Catherine & Darcy’s wedding day was filled with sunshine, lots of tight hugs and many happy tears.
